Burgess Appointed to North Carolina Medical Society's Ethical
and Judicial Affairs Committee (December 27, 2007)

Kenneth L. Burgess, a Partner in Poyner & Spruill’s Health Care
Practice Group, has been appointed to the North Carolina Medical
Society’s Ethical and Judicial Affairs Committee for 2008 as one of two
attorney “consultants.” Attorney Linwood Jones was also appointed to the
Committee. The
Ethical and Judicial Affairs Committee is made up of 25 well-known
doctors from across the state, as well as several ethicists and hospital
academics. The Committee interprets the principles of medical ethics and
investigates general ethical conditions. It also helps guide the Medical
Society’s Board of Directors in reviewing and making recommendations and
taking positions on pending legal, legislative and ethics issues that
affect doctors state-wide.
Ken is a long-term care attorney advising
clients on a wide variety of legal planning issues arising in the
skilled nursing facility setting, assisted living setting, and other
spheres of long-term care. He is a frequent national lecturer and author
of industry manuals, national trade journal magazine articles and
similar training tools. He serves Poyner & Spruill clients by focusing
on legal issues impacting the long-term care and health services sector.
Ken graduated from the University of North
Carolina with a B.A. in 1979, and received his J.D. cum laude from
