Concert pays homage to two legendary performers and Martin Luther King, Jr.

RALEIGH, NC, January 9, 2008 – Poyner & Spruill LLP, one of North Carolina’s oldest and largest law firms, is a proud sponsor of the North Carolina Symphony’s upcoming Nat King Cole and Paul Robeson tribute concert on Friday, January 18. The concert will be held at the Meymandi Concert Hall in Raleigh beginning at 8 p.m.

“The North Carolina Symphony is an incredible asset to our community,” said Bo Dempster, Poyner & Spruill’s managing partner. “We are a proud supporter of the Symphony and what it brings to the Triangle and North Carolina as a whole, and hope that our community takes advantage of this concert that will revive many of the wonderful classics of two legendary performers.”

During the performance, one of the great American voices heard today, Jubilant Sykes will bring his own soulful, jazzy stylings to the music of Nat King Cole and Paul Robeson. Symphony guests will hear memorable songs like “Nature Boy” and “Straighten Up and Fly Right.” Tickets are on sale now and available through Ticketmaster.

“This program honors two great African-American performers, Nat King Cole and Paul Robeson, and we will also pay a special tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. just days before the national holiday named for him,” said Scott Freck, general manager and vice president for artistic operations for the North Carolina Symphony. “We’re thankful that Poyner & Spruill has shown their leadership within the corporate community by supporting our presentation of this concert.”
