Poyner & Spruill Announces 5 New Partners (January 9, 2008)

Raleigh - Poyner & Spruill LLP is pleased to announce Paul Arena, Ken Burgess, Brian Corbett, Mark Griffith and Tom Lindgren have become Partners in the firm.

Paul Arena focuses his legal practice on acquisition, financing, development and leasing of real property.  He represents real estate developers in contract negotiation, due diligence and title review, analysis of local government ordinances and policies, negotiation with local governments, preparation of reciprocal easement agreements and restrictive covenants and organization of homeowner's associations.  He advises real estate developers and investors in the tax implications of real estate transactions, including conventional and reverse tax-deferred exchanges.  He also represents local government and quasi-governmental entities regarding real estate, development, contract and other transactional matters.  He received his J.D. and B.A. from University of North Carolina. Ken Burgess is a long term care attorney advising clients on a wide variety of legal planning issues arising in the skilled nursing facility setting, assisted living setting, and other aspects of long term care. He is a frequent national lecturer and author of industry manuals, national trade journal magazine articles, and similar training tools. Brian Corbett is engaged in a diverse multi-state commercial legal practice with experience in drafting and negotiating loan documents in connection with complex real estate and asset based loan transactions, and restructuring loans currently in default (soft workouts).  He has also represented large financial institutions in connection with various portfolio asset purchases and dispositions.
