Poyner & Spruill LLP Team Raises Over $5,000 for the Rocky Mount Area United Way Campaign (March 24, 2008)

Rocky Mount – Poyner & Spruill proudly participated in the 2008 Rocky Mount Area United Way campaign with a team effort. The Rocky Mount office raised over $5,000 for the United Way, and nearly 75% of the employees contributed to the campaign. Poyner & Spruill was honored with a Silver Award from the United Way for its fundraising efforts.

"We commend Poyner and Spruill for their strong leadership and commitment to the Rocky Mount Area United Way during our 2007-08 Campaign. The support they have shown United Way is very representative of the law firm as a whole--they are community-minded, focused on helping others and real community champions. We cannot thank Poyner and Spruill, its partners, associates and employees enough for their strong support of the United Way Campaign. Without their efforts, and the combined support of so many, we would not have surpassed our goal of raising $1.1 million for our community! Because of this, so many of our local citizens' lives will now be improved through important United Way human service programs, " said Ginny Mohrbutter, Executive Director, Rocky Mount Area United Way.

The Rocky Mount Area United Way’s fundraising efforts are coordinated in a variety of ways throughout the community, with the majority of their donations coming from the corporate sector. Approximately 70 businesses in the Rocky Mount area participate in a United Way campaign. Poyner & Spruill’s campaign ran from September 2007 until November 2007.

“The United Way provides the ideal opportunity for us to give back to the community in which we serve and live, and we look forward to continuing to support our local chapter in the years to come,” said Karen Bulluck, who served as the Workplace Campaign Coordinator for the Poyner & Spruill office, and organized the campaign activities.
