Poyner Spruill Welcomes Education Law Practice Group

RALEIGH, SEPTEMBER 14, 2017 – Poyner Spruill, a commercial law firm with offices across the state, is pleased to announce Dylan Castellino, Kate Dewberry, Cheslie Kryst, and Hannah Munn have joined the firm as associates, and Emily Meeker has joined as Of Counsel.

Dylan Castellino joins Poyner Spruill’s Rocky Mount office. His practice focuses on civil litigation and ranges from defending businesses, individuals, and local governments in civil cases to assisting property owners in cases involving eminent domain.

Kate Dewberry represents employers in litigation under all federal and state employment laws, including cases involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wage and hour issues. Kate also assists in representing clients in proceedings before administrative agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the United States Department of Labor, the North Carolina Department of Labor, and the North Carolina Division of Employment Security. She is based in the Raleigh office.

Cheslie Kryst joins the Charlotte office as an associate on the complex commercial litigation team. She represents clients in a wide range of challenges including antitrust matters, government-related disputes, constitutional litigation, professional malpractice claims, construction disputes, and trade secrets litigation.

Hannah Munn joined Poyner Spruill’s employee benefits and executive compensation practice. She represents public, private, governmental, and non-profit employers in designing and documenting retirement plans, welfare benefit plans, fringe benefit plans, and executive compensation plans.

Emily Meeker is an experienced litigator who represents clients in government-related disputes, condemnation cases, land-use matters, and other complex civil litigation. Emily joins Poyner Spruill after more than six years as a trial attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice with the Attorney General’s Honors Program. At the Department of Justice, she served as lead counsel in a wide range of significant cases, from takings cases to tort lawsuits to environment disputes. This experience included multiple trials. For her work on these cases, Emily was awarded the Department’s Outstanding Performance Rating three times. Emily is currently licensed to practice law in Virginia only and her admission in North Carolina is pending.
