Jill is a member of the Financial Services and Creditors Rights' section of the firm and focuses her practice in the areas of Creditors' Rights and Bankruptcy. She regularly represents secured and unsecured creditors in Chapter 7, 11, 12, and 13 bankruptcy cases in all three North Carolina bankruptcy districts. Jill represents banks and other lenders and creditors in collection, foreclosure, and claim and delivery actions throughout the state and also defends lenders against claims made under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA) and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). Jill also represents student-athletes in controversies arising out of eligibility rulings by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

Representative Experience

  • Represents secured creditors in Chapter 7, 11, 12, and 13 bankruptcies including obtaining relief from the automatic stay, objecting to confirmation, challenging the valuation of collateral, and defending claims objections
  • Represents unsecured creditors in consumer and business bankruptcy cases including objecting to dischargeability of particular debts and seeking denial of bankruptcy discharge
  • Represents bankruptcy creditors in in defense of preference and fraudulent transfer litigation
  • Represents secured creditors in foreclosure proceedings across the state of North Carolina
  • Represents creditors in commercial and consumer collection actions and claim and delivery proceedings
  • Represents secured lenders in debt restructuring and workouts
  • Represents lenders in defense of claims made under the Equal Credit Opportunity Act and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
  • Represents collegiate student-athletes regarding NCAA eligibility and compliance issues
