Richard concentrates his practice in the areas of creditors' rights and bankruptcy.  He regularly represents financial institutions in retail and commercial collections and all aspects of asset recovery, including foreclosures, relief from stay in bankruptcy, claim and delivery (replevin), receiverships, and post-judgment supplemental proceedings.  Richard also represents general contractors, subcontractors and suppliers in construction claim disputes, often involving bonds and lien enforcement. 

Representative Experience

Richard has experience in commercial litigation, including disputes involving construction defects, warranty claims, mechanic’s/materialmen’s liens, bond claims, lease transactions, and the purchase, sale and warranty of goods.

Prior Legal Experience

Prior to joining Poyner Spruill in 2011, Richard practiced as an associate with Vann & Sheridan, LLP in Raleigh.  During law school, Richard worked as an extern for the Honorable Ann Marie Calabria at the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
