RALEIGH, NC – Poyner Spruill LLP announced today that Elizabeth Johnson has joined the firm as Of Counsel in its Raleigh office. She most recently practiced in the Privacy and Information Management group at Hunton & Williams in Raleigh.

Johnson’s practice focuses on privacy, information security and records management including identifying, assessing and remediating risks associated with these areas of law. She regularly assists in conducting privacy and information security assessments, developing and implementing privacy compliance and records management programs, and drafting privacy notices, contracts, policies and procedures. Johnson often serves in the role of counselor to clients regarding compliance with various statutory and regulatory requirements at the state, federal and international level.

Recently, Johnson was listed among the top privacy professionals in Computerworld’s “2008 Best Privacy Advisers” report. Named by Business North Carolina as one its "Legal Elite - Under 40 Young Guns" for 2009, Johnson is also involved with the Carolina Privacy Officials Network and the International Association of Privacy Professionals. She was also named a Law & Politics Magazine "North Carolina Super Lawyers - Rising Star" in 2009 and was a Triangle Business Journal "40 Under 40" award winner in 2007.

An active member of the community, Johnson serves on the board of directors for the Triangle Area Chapter of the American Red Cross.
