Poyner Spruill today announced the launch of the firm’s new
Emerging Technology Companies Practice Group. The practice group, which will be led by Raleigh office partner
Rob Tyler, will provide legal guidance to emerging technology companies throughout their life cycles.
"We represent our clients during their start-up phase, their equity and debt financing and technology commercialization stages as well as through their liquidity events and beyond,” stated Rob Tyler. “While the legal expertise needed for this group has always been within the firm, the emphasis on this sector of our economy was not. We are excited to bring this broad array of resources together for the Emerging Technologies Companies Practice Group."
Tyler has been a constant presence in the Triangle’s entrepreneurial and technology sectors for the past 13 years. His experience includes representing medical device, life sciences and information technology companies in equity and debt financings, technology licensing, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate matters.
Bo Dempster, Poyner Spruill’s managing partner, commented, "Rob brings a unique depth of knowledge to our clients in the emerging technologies space. That experience, paired with the enormous resources of our corporate, employment, benefits, tax, intellectual property, privacy, immigration and real estate attorneys, serves this niche industry well." Tyler will lead the new 14-attorney practice group with member representatives from the firm's corporate, financial services, employment, health care, intellectual property and tax practices to serve emerging technology companies throughout North Carolina.
