Court Young, partner at Poyner Spruill LLP, has been selected for the
Charlotte Business Journal’s 18th Annual 40 Under 40 Awards. The accolade honors the region's brightest and most dynamic up-and-comers whose leadership and talents are making a great impact on the community.
Court Young has a significant history with Poyner Spruill that began in 2001 when she joined the firm as an associate. In her years with the firm, Young has taken leadership roles and dedicated herself to a number of important firm activities, including recruiting and associate development. She was named partner with Poyner Spruill in January 2011.
Young has established an incredibly well-rounded legal career that spans a variety of disciplines including commercial, business tort and financial service litigation. She has also been a board member of Jacobs Ladder Job Center from 2003 – 2009 and is currently on the Advisory Council serving as a vital asset for the under employed and unemployed. Her extensive community involvement and diverse experience offers a unique perspective and high level of legal expertise to Poyner Spruill.

Young represents banks and other lending institutions in disputes involving breach of contract, claim and delivery and unfair trade practices as well as the defense of lender liability lawsuits. Court has also litigated disputes involving claims of check fraud, fraudulent endorsements and breach of presentment and transfer warranties under the Uniform Commercial Code as well as consumer protection statutes brought under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. In her practice, Court represents commercial entities in prosecuting and defending a wide variety of business related disputes in state and federal court.
