Rob Tyler Named to University of Richmond Law School Association Board of Directors

RALEIGH, NC - Poyner Spruill is proud to announce that partner Rob Tyler has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the University of Richmond Law School Association. He will serve a three-year term, effective February 2011. Tyler received his BA and JD from the University of Richmond.  He served as Editor-in-Chief of The University of Richmond Law Review

Tyler leads Poyner Spruill’s Emerging Technology Company Practice Group, which is well known throughout North Carolina for representing life sciences and technology companies in various complex business transactions, including equity and debt financings, intellectual property licensing, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate matters. 

“Rob’s legal career is unique among University of Richmond Law School alumni. His extensive transactional experience working with entrepreneurial life sciences and technology companies brings a new and different perspective to our Board,” said Dean John Douglass. “I’m looking forward to working with Rob, and I’m pleased he has agreed to lend his valuable experience and leadership.”
 

An active member of the community, Tyler is also on the board of directors of CED, a private, nonprofit organization which identifies, enables and promotes high-growth, high-impact companies and accelerates the Research Triangle region's entrepreneurial culture. He also serves on the North Carolina Museum of Art Foundation and is a Charter Member of the Carolinas Chapter of The Indus Entrepreneurs. Furthermore, Tyler served for five years as Executive-in-Residence at North Carolina State University’s College of Management’s Technology, Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Program.

“The University of Richmond School of Law  had a tremendous influence on my personal and professional life,” Tyler said. “I look forward to giving back and supporting the Law School’s tradition of dedicated alumni serving the Law School and the tremendous faculty and students who are its lifeblood and future.”
