Mike is a health care attorney advising clients on a variety of regulatory, contractual and operational issues in hospice, home care, and long-term care settings. He has served as in-house counsel for both long-term care and hospice chain organizations. In addition, Mike is an experienced health care consultant in regulatory, reimbursement, development and operational matters.
Prior Legal Experience
Mike's career began as a staff nurse at North Carolina Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill in 1979. He then went on to be the Hospital Supervisor of Raleigh Community Hospital from 1980 to 1991. After receiving his JD, Mike held consulting positions, had his own private practice for a few years and served as the Executive Director of the Hospice of Wake County from 2001 to 2002. Just prior to joining Poyner Spruill in early 2008, he was the vice-president of Legal Services at Community Health, Inc. in Rocky Mount.
