Bill is a member of the Creditors' Rights and Bankruptcy Section. He regularly represents financial institutions in foreclosure actions and related out-of-court workouts.
Additionally, Bill practices in the area of trusts and estates. He consults with clients on all estate and tax planning matters, estate administration, closely held business organization and succession planning.
Representative Experience
- Consult with clients on estate and tax planning goals and identify the planning vehicles which best accomplish these goals and minimize tax liability.
- Draft and execute documents including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, health care power of attorney, and living wills.
- Counsel clients on the use of their estate planning documents including proper trust administration, trust funding, use of power of attorneys and keeping proper accountings for all fiduciary activities.
- Advise clients of the various gift tax exclusions and developing a gifting plan when necessary.
- Administer decedents’ estates from initial application to final accounting. Counsel clients on estate tax issues, including the preparation of the estate tax return.
- Manage asset transfers and accountings associated with tracking and moving estate assets for gifting or other planning purposes.
- Administer guardianship estates from the hearing to qualification, advising clients on the best type of guardianship for their specific needs.
- Consult with closely held businesses to discuss goals and identify which entity and structure best suits their needs, including issues of taxation and liability protection and succession planning.
- Discuss life insurance benefits for individuals and closely held businesses including the drafting and implementation of life insurance trusts or cross purchase agreements.
