Municipal
& Utilities
For over a decade Poyner &
Spruill has served as lead counsel to the organizations of municipalities
that provide electric service to local consumers. It also serves as counsel
to individual cities and regularly advises them on a wide range of municipal
law issues, many of which involve matters requiring litigation or
arbitration. Firm attorneys have been particularly active during recent
years in litigating commercial utility disputes, territorial service
disputes between municipalities and others, including electrical power
companies and rural electric cooperatives, and in major litigation involving
contractual rights of several municipalities as part owners of a nuclear
power plant.
