Poyner Spruill Welcomes Education Law Practice Group

Poyner Spruill LLP is pleased to announce partner Tate Ogburn is a 2021 recipient of the Citizen Lawyer Award from the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA).  According to NCBA, “The Citizen Lawyer Award was established to recognize and thank lawyers who, in addition to their legal work, exemplify the ideals of a citizen lawyer by volunteering their time for worthy community or civic causes to improve the quality of life of those in their local or statewide communities. This award recognizes role models who inspire other lawyers to invest their time and talents in service-oriented activities”.

Tate practices in the firm’s Charlotte office in the areas of construction law, creditor’s rights, and commercial litigation. He also serves on the firm’s Management Committee and as the firm’s General Counsel. As a leader in the community he has served as an officer and in various capacities for organizations which include The Lucile P. & Edward C. Giles Foundation, the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte, and the American Red Cross.  His substantial legal experience and compassion for people is evidenced by his exemplary service both in the legal profession and the community.
