Poyner Spruill Welcomes Education Law Practice Group

Poyner Spruill LLP partner Missy Jaskolka received the Silver Boot Award during Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central & Western North Carolina’s 2023 Spring Trailblaze Challenge.

Earlier this month, Jaskolka and teammate Del Jackson hiked 28.3 miles in Cashiers, North Carolina to raise money for the local Make-A-Wish chapter. Team Poyner Spruill raised more than $8,500—greatly surpassing their goal of $5,000. Jaskolka raised over $6,000, which earned her second place in the individual fundraiser competition.

This annual fundraiser helps provide funds to fulfill wishes for children with critical medical conditions. During the last mile of the Trailblaze Challenge, participants hike the Wish Mile, which has medals hanging on trees with photos of Wish Kids and descriptions of their wishes. Jaskolka remarked, “it’s really touching to see all the lives we have impacted after such a long grueling day.”

The local Make-A-Wish chapter raised $445,565 of its $500,000 goal with another challenge date set for next weekend. Donations are accepted through August 28, 2023. Visit Team Poyner Spruill’s fundraising page to make a gift.

Jaskolka first participated in the Trailblaze Challenge in 2019. She plans on hiking next year with a bigger team in hopes of raising more money for Make-A-Wish. Poyner Spruill LLP was proud to sponsor the 2023 Trailblaze Challenge.
