Employee Benefits Attorney

The law firm of Poyner Spruill LLP is actively recruiting an experienced attorney to join the Employee Benefits group in our Raleigh or Charlotte office. The candidate should have 5+ years of experience in the employee benefits area, with the ability to analyze a wide variety of plans and benefit programs. The position can accommodate a Senior Associate, Partner, or Of Counsel title, as the candidate’s circumstances warrant. Knowledge of the tax code, ERISA, COBRA, and HIPAA along with experience with a variety of benefit plans (including welfare, fringe, executive compensation, and retirement plans) is a must. The preferred candidate is licensed to practice in NC, will have graduated in the top 20% of their law school class, and will have robust experience with defined benefit plans and/or ESOPs, but candidates without these preferred credentials will be considered. Corporate Partner

The firm is seeking a highly qualified partner level attorney with a minimum of 7+ years general corporate experience working with closely held corporations to join its Corporate Practice Group in its Charlotte office.  Candidates must have a portable book of business and a North Carolina license is required.  Some securities experience is preferred. Preferred areas of expertise include general corporate, including mergers and acquisitions; joint venture formation; capitalization, management/governance, and executive contracts for closely held companies; commercial contracts for corporate clients with customers, vendors, and others; and some experience with private placement of securities.
