In addition, prior to joining the firm, Burgess served as the American Health Care Association’s senior director of legal services and facility operations. He also served as the North Carolina Health Care Facilities Association’s general counsel.

In his profile in the National Law Journal special publication, Burgess looks ahead. He discusses the challenges surrounding health care providers merging, including hospitals, home health providers and nursing homes. In his profile, Burgess stated, “I do regulatory and compliance work, so the challenge and the opportunity are: How do we help these clients give individualized care like the theoretical doctors of 50 years ago? How do we keep it human while building these value-added networks?”
