Poyner Spruill Welcomes Education Law Practice Group

Poyner Spruill LLP associate Tia Overway has been appointed as a co-chair of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. In this leadership role, Overway will work to increase the DEI Committee’s visibility within the NCBA, create a safe space, and reduce the stigma surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.

Overway focuses her practice on local government and land use law. She assists municipalities, counties, governmental agencies, and private clients on various local government issues. In addition, Overway handles commercial leasing and homeowner’s association cases involving both tort and contractual liability. Overway has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® “Ones to Watch” 2026 list for her work with government relations, land use and zoning law, and real estate law.

Overway will serve a one-year term as co-chair of the YLD’s DEI Committee.
