Poyner Spruill LLP is pleased to welcome Kylie Beresford and Harrison Nugent to the firm as associate attorneys.
Kylie Beresford assists clients with a wide range of financial services matters, including bankruptcy, creditor’s rights, and related litigation issues. She helps secured and unsecured creditors, including banks, insurance companies, and other business clients, navigate bankruptcy and creditor’s rights matters. Beresford draws on her experience as an attorney for the U.S. Bankruptcy Administrator for the Eastern District of North Carolina, where she managed all aspects of litigation arising under the Bankruptcy Code.
Beresford earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Campbell University School of Law, where she served in the Stubbs Bankruptcy Clinic, was a VITA Pro Bono Project Manager, and was an American College of Bankruptcy Distinguished Student Award nominee. Beresford earned her undergraduate degree magna cum laude from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she was a varsity softball student-athlete and a member of multiple national honor societies. Outside the office, she enjoys long-distance running.
Harrison Nugent works with clients on corporate and transactional matters, including corporate transactions, restructuring, and contract drafting and negotiation. With a Master of Business Administration from Elon University, Nugent applies a business-driven approach to addressing clients’ corporate needs.
While at Elon University School of Law, Nugent completed judicial internships with the Supreme Court of North Carolina, the North Carolina Business Court, and the North Carolina Court of Appeals, where he worked on matters involving corporate governance, shareholder disputes, and complex commercial issues. He served as Notes and Comments Editor for the Elon Law Review, competed on the Moot Court Board, and graduated with cum laude honors. Nugent worked as an EMT during college, is an avid distance runner, and is a proud second-generation Auburn University alumnus.
