Poyner Spruill Welcomes Education Law Practice Group

Poyner Spruill LLP partner Rachel Nicholas has been elected to serve as a member of the Advisory Board of the Public School Forum of North Carolina. As a former teacher and passionate advocate for public school systems, Nicholas is dedicated to furthering the organization’s vision of helping North Carolina children reach their full potential through equitable and meaningful public education.

Nicholas focuses her practice exclusively on education law. She counsels public school systems on a variety of matters impacting boards of education, school districts, administrators, educators, and students. Nicholas is a past Chair of the Education Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association and is a member of the North Carolina Council of School Attorneys. In 2019, she was one of 16 attorneys selected to participate in the North Carolina Bar Association’s Leadership Academy. In addition, Nicholas is the host of the limited-series podcast, “S.O.S.—Strategies for Operation Special Education.” On the show, Nicholas interviews education experts about ideas to enhance special education operations in public schools and to overcome staffing shortages.

Nicholas began her term on July 1, 2026.
