Poyner Spruill LLP is pleased to announce that partner Charlie Davis has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC), a prestigious professional distinction recognizing excellence in trust and estate law. Davis is among 55 new Fellows elected by ACTEC’s Board of Regents during the College’s 2026 Fall Meeting in Denver, Colorado.
ACTEC Fellows are elected by their peers for their outstanding reputations, exceptional skill, and substantial contributions to trust and estate law through lecturing, writing, teaching, and bar leadership or legislative activities. To qualify, nominees must have at least ten years of experience in the active practice of trust and estate law, as fiduciary counsel with a fiduciary services company, or a combination of the two. ACTEC is a national nonprofit association of approximately 2,300 lawyers and law professors in the United States and abroad.
Davis helps individuals and families develop estate and tax planning strategies to achieve their goals in a tax-efficient manner. He also guides executors and trustees through the estate and trust administration process. Based in Poyner Spruill’s Raleigh office, Davis is a Board-Certified Specialist in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the North Carolina State Bar Board of Legal Specialization.
For businesses addressing succession planning, corporate matters, or tax questions, Davis provides counsel that includes advice on the tax structure of mergers and acquisitions. He also advises nonprofit organizations on corporate and tax issues, complementing his trust and estates practice. Davis earned his law degree with high honors from the University of North Carolina School of Law and his undergraduate degree with highest distinction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
