Poyner Spruill Welcomes Education Law Practice Group

RALEIGH, N.C. — Poyner Spruill is pleased to announce Joanna King’s appointment to the North Carolina Bar Association’s Appellate Rules Committee.  King is a paralegal at the firm, and her focus is on appellate matters.

King fills the sole paralegal seat on the Committee, which makes recommendations to the North Carolina Supreme Court on issues of appellate procedure.  The Committee’s membership includes current and former appellate judges and members of the appellate bar.

“Joanna’s appointment is well-earned and well-deserved,” said Poyner Spruill partner Drew Erteschik, a board-certified appellate specialist.  “She is exceptionally knowledgeable on issues of appellate procedure, and she will bring a valuable perspective to the Committee.”

The Appellate Rules Committee’s work in past years has included drafting proposed amendments to the North Carolina Rules of Appellate Procedure for consideration by the Supreme Court.  Past proposals have included measures to simplify procedures and clarify ambiguities in the rules.
