Poyner Spruill LLP is pleased to announce four attorneys – partners Rachel Hitch, Brandon McPherson, and Brian Shaw and associate Rachel Nicholas – will participate in the North Carolina Association of School Administrators (NCASA) School Law & Policy Symposium on September 26-27 in Raleigh, NC.
At the symposium, the attorneys will lead five different presentations with varying topics, including a case law update (Shaw); an update on various laws and policies for exceptional children (Hitch); an overview of student mental health obligations (Nicholas); a guide to navigating student discipline issues (Hitch); and school personnel hot topics (McPherson).
The firm’s Education Law Practice Group is experienced in all facets of education law and has served schools and their boards across the state. The team features attorneys with decades of experience advising and representing local boards of education. In addition, the team has a comprehensive understanding of all matters relating to the School Budget and Fiscal Control Act, federal and state pass-through or matching funding programs (e.g. – Title I, vocational funds, exceptional children’s funds), and other aspects relating to finance and accounting.
