Poyner Spruill LLP is pleased to announce partner Mike McIntyre was named Lawyer of the Year during North Carolina Lawyers Weekly’s 2019 Leaders in the Law awards ceremony Friday, October 25, in Greensboro, North Carolina. A panel of independent legal professionals selected 29 individuals as Leaders in the Law based on professional accomplishment, personal accomplishment, and community involvement. The Lawyer of the Year was the individual in the class receiving the highest score from the judges.
Notably, three Poyner Spruill lawyers — McIntyre, Saad Gul, and Kelsey Mayo — were recognized in the 2019 class of Leaders in the Law, which was more than any other firm or legal organization in the state.
The Leaders in the Law awards honor legal professionals licensed and practicing law in the state of North Carolina determined to have gone above and beyond in their profession and their community. They represent the most influential individuals within the state’s legal community for the given year.
McIntyre’s practice includes government relations on the local, state, and national levels, as well as business, real estate, agribusiness, energy, environmental, military, sports, and entertainment law. Before joining the firm, he served for 18 years (1997-2015) as congressman of North Carolina’s Seventh Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
