RALEIGH, N.C. — Poyner Spruill LLP is pleased to announce the firm has elected Kate Dewberry a partner in the firm, effective January 1, 2020.

Dewberry’s practice focuses on employment law and related employment litigation in addition to administrative employment law. She assists with issues related to employee handbooks, hiring, background checks, drug testing, severance and release agreements, discipline, termination, compensation, leaves of absence, executive employment agreements, noncompetition and nonsolicitation agreements, confidentiality agreements and layoffs. She also counsels and represents employers on issues and litigation arising under federal and state laws covering leave, discrimination, and wage and hours, and provides training to employers and employees on these topics.
In addition, Dewberry represents clients in proceedings before administrative agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the United States Department of Labor, the North Carolina Department of Labor, and the North Carolina Division of Employment Security.
Dewberry completed her undergraduate studies at Clemson University and earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. She has been in private practice at Poyner Spruill since 2017.
