Poyner Spruill LLP is pleased to announce Allen Buansi has joined the firm as an of counsel attorney in the Government, Land Use, and Education Section. Buansi focuses his practice on government-related matters.
Buansi brings extensive experience to the firm. He currently serves in the North Carolina House of Representatives for the 56th District. In November 2022, Allen was elected to serve another term in the House. Governor Roy Cooper appointed Buansi to the Local Government Employees’ Retirement System Board of Trustees, where he has served from 2018 to 2021. Buansi formerly served on the Chapel Hill Town Council and practiced law as an assistant city attorney for the city of Greensboro. He has also worked at the University of North Carolina Center for Civil Rights and at the North Carolina Department of Justice.
In 2018, Buansi was recognized as one of Chapel Hill Magazine’s “Top Influencers.” The article praises his commitment to social justice and passion for helping those who are traditionally underrepresented.

Buansi earned his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and his Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina School of Law.
