Poyner Spruill Welcomes Education Law Practice Group

Poyner Spruill LLP is pleased to share the efforts of attorney Missy Jaskolka in working to raise more than $5,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central & Western North Carolina.

Earlier this month, Jaskolka participated in the 28.3-mile Spring Trailblaze Challenge, an endurance event where participants tackle a portion of the Foothills Trail in a fundraiser benefitting the local charity. Jaskolka and her husband participated as Team Poyner Spruill, and the duo raised $5,051.60 — more than doubling their original goal of $2,500.

Participants in the Trailblaze Challenge heard personal stories from Make-A-Wish beneficiaries and how the funds would make a difference. Organizers indicated that the hikers raised enough money to fulfill wishes for 88 kids who are dealing with life-threatening medical conditions.

Overall, the Western & Central North Carolina chapter raised more than $423,000 toward its overall goal of $530,000 with another challenge date set for this weekend.

“It was really overwhelming to see how Make-A-Wish impacts our community,” said Jaskolka, who finished the 28.3 miles in just under 11 hours. “It’s not just the kids but the whole family that benefits. This is a wonderful cause.”

Jaskolka was a first-time participant but already plans to return next year with a goal of expanding the scope of her fundraising through additional hikers.

At Poyner Spruill, Jaskolka represents financial institutions and other entities in a wide variety of transactional and commercial financing related matters, including secured and unsecured senior and subordinated debt financing transactions, asset-based lending, real estate project financings, single bank and syndicated credit facilities, intercreditor arrangements, and acquisition financings.
