Poyner Spruill Welcomes Education Law Practice Group

Poyner Spruill LLP partner Saad Gul recently led a breakout session on cybersecurity at IAPP Privacy. Security. Risk. 2019 in Las Vegas.

Gul and two other industry leaders were part of a program titled “Who Reports to Whom? An Effective Corporate Structure for Your CPO and CISO.” The speakers covered benefits and downsides of different corporate reporting structures for the security and privacy legal teams within midsize and large companies and the potential future of these structures as privacy and cybersecurity become more entwined.

The International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) is a resource for professionals who want to develop and advance their careers by helping their organizations successfully manage risks and protect their data. IAPP is billed as the world’s largest and most comprehensive global information privacy community.

IAPP Privacy. Security. Risk. 2019 was an industry-leading event looking at the convergence of privacy and technology. The agenda featured breakout sessions and workshops, keynote speakers, networking opportunities, and training for career advancement. Speakers tackled topics ranging from artificial intelligence to the internet of things at a practical, operational level.

Gul co-chairs Poyner Spruill’s privacy and cybersecurity team while also maintaining an active appellate and regulatory litigation practice. After law school, he clerked for Chief Judge John C. Martin of the North Carolina Court of Appeals and Justice Patricia Timmons-Goodson of the North Carolina Supreme Court. He came to Poyner Spruill after working for two major Washington, D.C., law firms.

Poyner Spruill attorneys are available for speaking engagements, presentations, and webinars that include informative or training formats. The firm also provides access to numerous continuing education credits. For more information, contact Hillary Davis at hcdavis@poynerspruill.com.
