Poyner Spruill Welcomes Education Law Practice Group

Poyner Spruill managing partner Dan Cahill spoke with Law360 reporter Adrian Cruz about how the firm plans to continue meeting client demand while still keeping service quality high as part of a deep dive into what worries and excites leaders of mid-size law firms.

The interview was featured in a Law360 article, The Issues Weighing On Mid-Law MPs As ’22 Begins, was published on January 4. An excerpt from the article is below:

For many midsize law firms, 2021 has been a giant paradox. While a number of them have made record profits over the past year and experienced substantial growth, they’ve also had to deal with a multitude of challenges stemming from the continued impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Even though many things have changed in the U.S. since this time last year, including the widespread introduction of COVID-19 vaccines, the end of lockdowns and lighter restrictions, a lot of uncertainty still remains, especially with the regular emergence of new variants.

Managing partners said that some of the things on their mind as the new year approaches include maintaining their economic success, the rapidly changing nature of recruitment and retention, and the omnipresent specter that is the ongoing pandemic.

Here, Law360 looks at three things that will be top of mind for Mid-Law managing partners in 2022.

“Globally, it’s been the worst pandemic in modern times, and we’ve had to handle things we never thought we’d have to deal with like masks and being sequestered,” Poyner Spruill LLP managing partner Dan Cahill said. “The irony is that financially, we’ve had our two best years in over a decade.”
