Poyner Spruill LLP is pleased to announce that Joseph Garfunkel has joined the firm. He is based in Poyner Spruill’s Charlotte office.
Joey represents commercial construction clients in every phase of the construction process. He works with developers, architects, owners, sureties, general contractors, and suppliers in matters such as payment disputes, mechanic liens, delay claims, and defective construction in North Carolina and South Carolina. Joey represents contractors and homeowners before the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors, including claims under the Homeowners Recovery Fund.
Joey has been recognized for his practice in Super Lawyers magazine’s “Rising Stars” list for the past two years. He brings a breadth of experience with litigation matters from his time working at another construction firm in Charlotte and from his time with the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office. Joey earned his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law and his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida. Outside of work, Joey enjoys spending time on Lake Norman with his friends and family.
