Biography
Sydney Davis helps businesses, insurers, and governmental entities navigate complex disputes, manage risk, and mitigate exposure. Her practice includes civil litigation, pre-suit dispute resolution, internal investigations, and transactional support. She represents clients in state and federal courts across North Carolina, with experience spanning local government defense, constitutional and civil rights claims, commercial disputes, insurance defense, professional liability matters, and product liability litigation.
Sydney regularly defends municipalities, counties, and other governmental entities in litigation involving tort claims, Section 1983 claims, constitutional challenges, and other civil rights allegations. She has successfully secured dismissals on issues involving governmental immunity, qualified immunity, and municipal liability. Her appellate experience includes obtaining a favorable decision from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit affirming the dismissal of Section 1983 and Monell claims against a North Carolina municipality, as well as assisting in matters before the North Carolina Supreme Court involving questions of qualified privilege and actual malice.
In addition to her governmental litigation practice, Sydney represents insurers and insureds in disputes involving motor vehicle accidents, catastrophic injury claims, professional negligence, product liability, and construction defects. She has defended attorneys and other professionals against malpractice claims and regularly works with clients to resolve disputes before litigation arises. Sydney also conducts privileged investigations and advises clients on strategies to reduce legal and business risk.

She assists clients with due diligence and deal execution and has worked on transactions involving the sale of businesses in the manufacturing, industrial, and distribution sectors, including sales to publicly traded and private-equity-backed acquirers.
